7+ and 8+ Tuition
We support families preparing for the highly competitive 7+ and 8+ entrance exams for London day schools and leading prep schools across the UK, including Westminster Under School, City Junior School, St Paul’s Junior School, Latymer Prep, Highgate Junior School, and UCS Junior Branch, with preparation tailored to each school’s assessment style.
At this stage, children are still young, but schools are looking for academic ability, emotional maturity, and clear potential. We provide expert tutors who combine challenge with nurture: building strong foundations in Maths and English, while strengthening exam technique, creative thinking, and resilience under pressure.
Our team understands the distinct requirements of each school and the pressures families face, from navigating school choices to keeping learning enjoyable and stress-free.

Our Testimonials
“They matched us with the perfect tutor in no time at all. Lessons were lively, encouraging and perfectly pitched, and my child went into her 8+ assessments brimming with confidence. We couldn’t be happier, she secured offers from our top-choice schools and, most importantly, still looks forward to every lesson.”
“We asked Trinity Education Centre for support while living overseas, and James was the perfect fit. His calm, methodical lessons kept our son engaged despite the time-difference, and the structured feedback gave us complete confidence in his progress. When our son secured a place at our first-choice London prep, we knew we’d made the right call.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Which schools run 7+ and 8+ entry?
Our tutors regularly prepare pupils for selective London and Home Counties schools, including (but not limited to):
7+ entry: Bute House, Dulwich Prep London, King’s College School Wimbledon, North London Collegiate Juniors, St Paul’s Juniors, Highgate, South Hampstead High Juniors, Westminster Under, Wetherby Prep.
8+ entry: Arnold House, Colet Court (St Paul’s Juniors 8+ stream), City of London Boys & Girls, St Paul’s Juniors, Highgate, Haberdashers’ Boys & Girls, Latymer Prep, Sussex House, Thomas’s Battersea, University College School (UCS).
What is the difference between the 7+ and 8+ exams?
7+ is sat in Year 2 for Year 3 entry (age 7).
8+ is sat in Year 3 for Year 4 entry (age 8).
The 8+ uses similar papers but expects greater depth: longer creative writing, multi-step maths problems, and higher reasoning scores. A few schools add science, dictation, or an extended interview at 8+.
What do the assessments involve?
While all schools vary, at 7+ level, pupils meet a gentle blend of short comprehension, a brief story, early number work (bonds, simple fractions, word problems to 100), picture-based reasoning and a light sharing or building task. The 8+ follows the same pattern but steps up the challenge: longer comprehension, a planned one-page story, multi-step maths with fractions and early division, timed reasoning puzzles with codes and sequences, and a more structured collaborative discussion or puzzle.
Several schools also observe play or run short 1-to-1 interviews to gauge confidence, articulation, and manners.
How early should we start preparing?
We recommend beginning gentle skill-building a year ahead, adding focused tuition at nine months, and concentrating on past papers and mocks from six months; later starts are possible, but the programme will need to be more intensive.
Can you help if we are overseas or outside London?
Yes. Many families in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America work with us entirely online. We also offer intensive tuition, residential and international placements, as well as in-person tuition with London.
How do you choose your 7+/8+ tutors?
We introduce only a small circle of specialist tutors who:
Have extensive professional-tutoring experience in early prep years.
Create engaging, age-appropriate lessons that balance stretch with encouragement.
Each tutor is DBS-checked, interviewed twice, and personally known to our team.
We match tutor and child after a detailed consultation to ensure rapport and subject fit.
