Our Testimonials
“They matched us with the perfect tutor in no time at all. Lessons were lively, encouraging and perfectly pitched, and my child went into her 8+ assessments brimming with confidence. We couldn’t be happier, she secured offers from our top-choice schools and, most importantly, still looks forward to every lesson.”
“We asked Trinity Education Centre for support while living overseas, and James was the perfect fit. His calm, methodical lessons kept our son engaged despite the time-difference, and the structured feedback gave us complete confidence in his progress. When our son secured a place at our first-choice London prep, we knew we’d made the right call.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Which schools do your 11+ tutors prepare pupils for?
Our tutors prepare pupils for leading independent and grammar schools, with tuition tailored to each child’s target schools.
These include City of London School, City of London School for Girls, St Paul’s Girls’ School, St Paul’s Juniors, Westminster Under School, Highgate, South Hampstead High, North London Collegiate, Latymer Upper and King’s College School Wimbledon.
We also support applications to Queen Elizabeth’s School, Henrietta Barnett, Tiffin School, Tiffin Girls’ School, Wilson’s, Sutton Grammar and Nonsuch, alongside preparation for boarding-school pre-tests and deferred Year 9 entry.
What subjects and skills are tested in the 11+?
The content varies by school, but preparation commonly covers English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Some schools also include creative writing, interviews or group assessments.
Our tutors develop comprehension, vocabulary, mathematical accuracy and problem-solving, alongside the exam technique needed to work confidently under timed conditions. Preparation focuses on the assessments your child will actually take.
When should my child start preparing for the 11+?
Year 4 or early Year 5 is a useful starting point, allowing time to build strong foundations without rushing. In Year 4, the focus can remain on reading, vocabulary, mental maths and enjoyable problem-solving. More structured preparation can follow in Year 5, with timed practice introduced as your child becomes ready.
The right timetable depends on your child’s starting point, target schools and assessment dates. We tailor the pace to keep preparation manageable alongside school and other interests.
Is it too late to start 11+ preparation in Year 6?
A later start can still be worthwhile, provided your target schools’ application and assessment deadlines have not passed. Focused tuition can address gaps, strengthen exam technique and help your child approach unfamiliar questions with greater confidence.
We also offer intensive revision, summer programmes and residential tuition where appropriate. The priority is a realistic plan based on the time available and your child’s needs.
How do you tailor 11+ tuition to my child’s target schools?
We consider your child’s strengths, areas for development and the requirements of their chosen schools. Lessons then focus on the relevant subjects, question formats and assessment skills.
For some pupils, that means developing written English and mathematical reasoning. For others, it means becoming more comfortable with computer-based assessments, managing time or explaining their thinking in an interview.
Can my child prepare for UK school entrance exams from overseas or outside London?
Yes. We offer online 11+ tuition for families across the UK and internationally, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America.
Lessons are tailored to your child’s target schools and can fit around their current schooling and time zone. We can also arrange intensive in-person tuition in London or residential support for families who prefer it.
How do you select and match your 11+ tutors?
Every tutor is interviewed, vetted and matched to your child following a detailed consultation. We consider relevant entrance-exam experience, subject expertise and teaching style, as well as your child’s personality and confidence.
Our tutors combine clear explanations with engaging, age-appropriate lessons, helping pupils develop both the skills and independence they need for the next stage of school.
Can tuition help with 11+ exams described as “tutor-proof”?
Tuition can help children strengthen the underlying skills these assessments draw on, including reading comprehension, vocabulary, mathematical fluency and flexible thinking.
Our approach combines these foundations with appropriate familiarisation, so pupils understand instructions and feel more comfortable tackling unfamiliar tasks. The aim is to develop independent thinking and confidence without relying on memorised answers.
What is the ISEB Common Pre-Test, and how does it differ from the 11+?
The ISEB Common Pre-Tests are online, adaptive assessments covering English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Adaptive testing adjusts the difficulty of questions in response to a pupil’s answers.
Schools may use the tests for Year 7 entry or deferred Year 9 entry, often with pupils sitting them in Year 6 or Year 7. Unlike a traditional written entrance exam, the assessments take place on a computer. Individual schools set their own deadlines and may require further assessments or interviews. What does the London 11+ Consortium assessment involve?
The London 11+ Consortium uses a shared online assessment covering Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Puzzles and Problem Solving, and Creative Comprehension.
Creative Comprehension involves interpreting information from different sources; it is not an extended creative-writing task. Preparation should build strong reading, reasoning and problem-solving skills, alongside familiarity with the assessment format. Consortium assessment guidance
How do CAT4 scores and school reports fit into 11+ preparation?
Where available, CAT4 results and school reports can help us understand your child’s learning profile and identify areas that may benefit from support. They provide context alongside your child’s current work and performance in lessons.
If you are unsure whether a target school requests or considers CAT4 results, check directly with its admissions team. There is no single weighting that applies across all schools.
Is online 11+ tuition suitable for my child?
Online tuition can work well for children who engage comfortably through a screen. Shared whiteboards, live feedback and interactive resources allow tutors to explain ideas, review written work and guide practice in real time.
The best format depends on your child’s age, concentration and learning preferences. We offer online and in-person tuition, with the option to combine them where practical.
How much tuition and independent practice does my child need each week?
One weekly lesson, supported by short, regular practice, can be a useful starting point. The right amount depends on your child’s current attainment, target schools and time before the assessments.
Reading, vocabulary work and focused maths practice can be built into a manageable routine. As exams approach, timed papers may become more useful, while leaving space for rest, hobbies and schoolwork.
Do you offer 11+ mock exams and interview preparation?
Yes. Our tutors support timed practice, mock exams and interview preparation as part of a tailored programme.
Mock papers help identify where pupils lose marks or need to improve their timing. Interview preparation encourages children to discuss their interests, explain their thinking and respond thoughtfully to unfamiliar questions in their own words.
Can 11+ tuition help a bright child who lacks confidence?
Yes. We use manageable goals, clear explanations and constructive feedback to help children recognise their progress and feel more comfortable with challenging work.
Lessons give pupils space to ask questions, make mistakes and try different approaches. As their understanding develops, the aim is for them to approach assessments with greater confidence and independence.
